Operation Ecuador East Hill Teen Mission Trip ~ 2012
SPECIAL NOTE: Team Leader, please print the following order form for the Sunday, April 22 Meeting!

29 teens and adults from the East Hill Church of Christ will travel to Ecuador from May 22 - June 2, 2012. Their goal is to support the work of missionaries there through work at an orphanage tutoring students and providing opportunities for them to practice their English skills, working near Santo Domingo de los Colorados with the Tsacilla Indians, and distributing basic health care items in the rainforest along the Cayapas River.

We will depart from Omaha, NE, on May 22 at 1:30 PM, and arrive in Quito, the capital city, at approximately 10:00 PM. A chartered bus will take us to Camp Bellevue, located next to the Hacienda of Hope in Tabacundo, a small village in the Andes Mountains. While there, we will build a playground for children in an impoverished village nearby. Each village in the region has a government-run daycare, and these facilities tend to be lacking in some very basic things.

After spending several days in Tabacundo, we will depart for Santo Domingo De Los Colorados, where we will work on the Tsacilla Indian Reservation. This tribe is known for the red hair of the males - red due to the coloring they apply, a derivative of a root native to the region.

Finally, we will travel to Los Penas, a village along the Pacific coast, and will board canoes for a three hour ride into the Ecuadorian rainforest along the Cayapas River. Our destination is Kumanii Center, a facility that is used to conduct medical missions several times each year. We will provide toothbrushes, toothpaste, parasite pills, and vitamins for approximately 1,500 members of the Chachi Indian tribe. We will spend 2 - 3 days in the jungle.

We will depart Quito on June 1 at 11:30 PM, and arrive back in Omaha at 9:15 AM... no doubt exhausted, but fulfilled!
